The Spiritual Power of Lapis Lazuli Revealed Through ShinsungHwa (2020)
What is ShinsungHwa?
ShinsungHwa is a unique form of spiritual art where drawings emerge through spontaneous, flowing movements. Artists tap into their subject’s energy and let Qi(氣) guide their hands, creating geometric patterns that serve as a universal language.
The ‘ShinsungHwa’ of Lapis Lazuli
Today I’d like to share a ‘ShinsungHwa’ focused on lapis lazuli—that deep blue stone that’s captivated humanity for millennia.
Anyone who works with spiritual practices has their go-to tools nearby. We all carry everyday essentials, the things we reach for without thinking. But spiritual tools? They’re different. They serve one purpose: channeling and strengthening energy flows, clearing negativity, and creating a protective barrier between ourselves and whatever we’re working with.
Something fascinating happens when I create a ‘ShinsungHwa.’ Energy from my subject begins flowing into me. It’s not always pleasant—sometimes it carries problems, shadows, things that could cause real damage if left unchecked. This is where spiritual tools become essential. They’re both shield and amplifier, protecting me while enhancing the work.
You don’t absolutely need these tools. Everyone finds their own methods for clearing and protection. But working with minerals, quartz, and gemstones offers something deeper—a chance to understand their world, to discover the energies they hold. It becomes as much about learning as it is about protection.
There are countless minerals and crystals to choose from, each with its own personality. After assessing what this particular work required, lapis lazuli emerged as the obvious choice. What I want to show you is the complete transformation of this single piece of lapis lazuli into a working spiritual tool—how the connection forms, step by step, through the language of ‘ShinsungHwa.’
The stone will guide us through what it needs to become.
Before Spiritual Cleansing
When I examine this lapis lazuli’s ShinsungHwa before cleansing, I notice the ‘(1)spiral energy symbol’ radiating outward. Yet along the edges, the energy lines appear cracked and disturbed. While energy flows through the stone, something feels off.
I borrowed this particular piece from a gemstone specialist for a year. Wearing it directly on my wrist, I felt a distinct tingling—almost numbness—spreading through my hand and forearm. The stone held powerful energy, but it desperately needed cleansing.
Consider what any crystal experiences before reaching us. From the moment it’s extracted from the earth, through cutting and polishing, then passing through countless wholesalers and retailers—dozens of hands touch each piece. If you’ve purchased something secondhand, add the unknown energies of previous owners to that mix.
You know those mysterious stories about cursed diamonds? They’re more than folklore. When minerals and crystals used in jewelry become contaminated with negative energy or curses, they can genuinely affect whoever wears them.
That tingling wasn’t my imagination—it was the stone sharing its story, written in the touch of everyone who had handled it before me.
After Spiritual Cleansing

I cleansed the lapis lazuli using ‘ShinsungHwa’ principles. The scattered, damaged energy cleared completely, revealing layers of renewed energy fields. Gone was that sharp discomfort I used to feel wearing it. Now it radiates this warm, gentle energy that feels completely natural.

Before Connection
1. Lapis Lazuli in Its Pre-Connection State
After cleansing, the lapis lazuli returned to a neutral state—a fresh start. The stone hadn’t found its purpose yet, so its energy simply circled within itself, moving in gentle, self-contained patterns.
2. The Separation Between Lapis Lazuli and the Human Body
An invisible boundary existed between the lapis lazuli and the person—they remained separate, with no communication flowing between them.
To create a connection, someone could reach out through personal intention. They might think, “I want to use this stone for healing” or “I’m ready to connect with you.” These focused thoughts could establish a link between person and stone.
However, this particular process wouldn’t rely on personal intention alone. Instead, we would use ShinsungHwa principles to establish the connection—working through the ‘symbol of light’ and the ‘path to the spiritual core’ rather than individual will.
After the Connection
- You can see the lapis lazuli’s energy flowing directly toward the subject. The stone has clearly chosen its match—there’s real intention behind how that energy moves.
- The lapis lazuli connects strongly with the hands, especially the thumb. According to ‘ShinsungHwa’ principles, our hands reveal our natural talents, while the thumb shows us what truly matters—who we are at our core and our authentic purpose.
- Something beautiful happens here: the lapis lazuli and the subject start sharing the same energy field. Two separate forces become one unified whole.
Setting Intentions with ‘Myeong Input’
Myeong Input (명 입력): A Korean Spiritual Method of Intention Programming
The Korean word ‘명(命)’ carries rich layers of meaning—life force, destiny, command, and target. This depth makes ‘Myeong Input’ particularly powerful, which we translate as ‘Intention Programming’ for English speakers.”

When working with minerals, crystals, or gemstones spiritually, you usually have a specific goal. That’s why we skip the separate connection phase and jump straight to ‘Myeong Input’—the connection forms naturally as we work. Of course, if you’re just displaying them for beauty, a simple cleanse will do. And sometimes, connection alone is enough.
‘Myeong Input’ is about setting clear intentions and directing energy toward specific purposes. You might channel energy to a particular chakra or focus it on areas that need healing. Before beginning the session, I wanted to see how the energy moved with just basic connection.
The Lapis Lazuli was sending energy to my shoulders, chest, hands, and feet. Shoulders often represent career and leadership qualities. The chest is where love awakens, hands connect to our talents, and feet guide us along our life path.
Something caught my attention though. Pink energy streams from the Lapis Lazuli kept circling around, like they couldn’t find where to land. The stone’s energy wasn’t reaching its full potential. Sure, cleansing and connection create basic effects, but this Lapis Lazuli had more to offer. That’s when I knew it was time for ‘Myeong Input.’
The energy was ready to work—it just needed direction, like water looking for the best path to the ocean.
After Intention Programming ‘Myeong Input’

Lapis lazuli has many properties, but this time I focused on cleansing. I programmed the stone with a simple intention: clear away any energy that doesn’t serve my highest good. The stone can work across different layers of reality and consciousness, and through this process, more of its natural abilities become available. A different intention would have created a completely different type of ‘ShinsungHwa.’
This is how crystals, minerals, and even everyday objects can become spiritual allies. You don’t always need a formal process—sometimes just focusing on what you want from an object and how you’d like it to support you is enough. Your ability to communicate that intention makes all the difference.
These tools already have their own power. Just remember not to depend on them too heavily. Think of them as helpful companions rather than necessities. While they can create profound shifts, you’re still the center of your own spiritual journey.
Use them when they’re helpful, but don’t get attached. The power of every crystal and mineral already exists within you—they’re simply here to awaken what’s already there.
Eventually, any programmed intention will run its course. This happens when you’ve developed that ability within yourself, when the tool has served its purpose, or when you’ve resolved whatever you were working on.
If we can see these tools as temporary travel companions on our spiritual path, they become exactly what they’re meant to be—helpful friends walking alongside us for a while.
